Simon and Cheryl Blackburn own and run Three Tree Hill, a family lodge in the Drakensberg foothills looking over the Mfazimnyama valley in Spioenkop Game Reserve.
There are 6 double or twin cottages and 3 larger family cottages: Kiplings, Churchills and Burchells. The ground is an Anglo-Boer War battlefield, and guided tours of Spioenkop can be booked ahead, as can game walks and horse riding. On your own you can follow marked trails of 2 to 9km, hire a mountain bike, swim, or settle into the library. Children are welcome, with an adventure play area of their own.
