Makakatana Bay Lodge is a family owned lodge on Lake St Lucia, inside the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
From its own jetty, boats go out at sunrise and sunset through channels where hippos live. A full day trip crosses the lake to the beach on the Indian Ocean. The 8 rooms have private decks, and the bathrooms open onto an outdoor shower and bath. There is a pool, the area is free of malaria, and children are welcome from 6.
