Thatch and stonework give Ekuthuleni Lodge a traditional look, and its suites face open plains and a busy waterhole in Welgevonden.
The standalone suites have king beds, a large bath, indoor and outdoor showers and a private terrace, cooled by ceiling fans rather than air conditioning. A single Family Suite adds 2 bathrooms and twin beds on a mezzanine for up to 2 children aged 6 and over. There is a swimming pool, a lounge stocked with board games, and spa treatments in the suite. Welgevonden is a malaria-free Big 5 reserve about 3 hours from Johannesburg, explored on 2 game drives a day.
